Overview: 145 keys – Renovation and design of a 19th century Berlin architectural masterpiece with sleek new building addition
They chose to make a baroque mansion by the Zoo. It is not often that an enormous private family residence (fitting 140 guestrooms) comes our way to design. In fabulous Berlin on one of the world’s grandest boulevards, Kurfurstendamm, we imagine the eccentric family who lived here and hosted the aristocrats and celebrities who visited, what they wore to the Berlin Biennale film festivals and the cultural events of the 20’s. The design is spun with our writing a stage play about the current generation of globe trotting Berliners—living their bold bohemian spirit mixed within the polish of a stately family townhouse. We decided upon playful estate proportions to exude an old-world family’s natural ease for grand luxury, their clear love of theater and ours for sumptuous material. Our design and imagination, is born of screenplays with narratives that run deep.
