W Hotel Westwood

Los Angeles, California

Completion date: April 2000    Role: Principal Designers
Overview: 258 keys - Renovation, repositioning of a midcentury midrise hotel for a new brand

Dayna Lee’s renovation and design of this hotel captures the unique glamour of California modernist architecture by uncladding salmon marble and gingerbread to reveal its original 1960’s cast concrete Breutalist qualities - calm, raw and powerful. The underlying concept was to hold true to the ideals of contemporary California indoor outdoor living and offer the serenity of a glass and concrete private home. Dayna custom-designed interior and exterior furnishings inspired by mid-century lines and placed on gleaming black oak wood floors. W Los Angeles Westwood is one of the first in the fleet.
